Toon is the Lead of Roland Berger Tenzing. Before joining Roland Berger in 2006, Toon worked in the aviation industry. He is also the co-founder of a company in Dutch Design.
Throughout his career, Toon has supported 30+ startups and scale-ups in several roles
Joris Rotmans
CSO (Nephrology expert)
Joris is an internist-nephrologist and professor at the Leiden University Medical Centre who combines clinical activities for patients with kidney disease with scientific research
His primary focus is on the improvement of vascular access for hemodialysis from which the scientific basis of this novel device originates. He has numerous patents to his name in the field of vascular access for hemodialysis and is considered a key opinion leader in the vascular access field
Koen van der Bogt
CMO (Vascular surgery expert)
Koen is a vascular and transplant surgeon and the surgical lead for vascular access of three hospitals in the region.
He was trained during a vascular access fellowship in one of the highest volume centers in the UK (Brighton), and as such has extensive experience in vascular access.
Together with Joris, he will supervise the spin-off from a medical point of view to ensure that product development occurs with the end-users in mind.
Ruairi Duffy
CTO
Ruairi has held various senior leadership positions in product development across pharma, medtech, healthcare and other industries. His experience spans corporate, start-up & scale-up companies in a multi-national setting. He has a track record of successful R&D and product development execution and regulatory approvals in these areas across Europe, US and other regions.
Nick White
Mechanical Engineer
Nick graduated cum laude in Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft and has worked full-time on this project for 4 years to bring it from an idea to a functional device, gaining ample experience in the translation from technology to the clinic and vice versa
In May 2021, he started his PhD program under supervision of Tim and Joris to further develop and validate this novel device from a research perspective
Maaike Talsma
Design Engineer
Maaike graduated in Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Delft. She pursues a career in the healthcare and medtech sector and brings previous experience in working at startups as a biomedical engineer.
Alexandra Klijn
Business development
Alexandra has a background in econometrics and has been a strategy consultant for 5 years at Roland Berger. She has experience in venture building and business development for startups in the life sciences sector.
Adam Cohen
Clinical and regulatory expert
Adam is emeritus professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the Leiden University Medical Centre and is the founder of the Centre for Human Drug Research (CHDR)
Under his leadership, the CHDR evolved into a large, independent institute specializing in innovative early-stage clinical drug research. During this period, he also initiated the Paul Janssen Futurelab, aimed at guiding master’s students towards becoming future drug developers. Adam remained CEO of the CHDR for over 30 years until 2018
